Description: Purpose: To provide spiritual, relational, organizational, and administrative leadership to the church’s ministry for children ages birth through 5th grade. To assist and further equip our church family in nurturing children toward lifelong Christian discipleshipQualifications:Vital relationship with Jesus Christ.Deep love for children and their familiesDesire to encourage multi-generational fellowship. Spiritual gifts including but not limited to leadership, administration, and teaching.Ability to recruit, train, organize and motivate volunteers for children’s ministries. Teachable, servant’s heart; team builder and team player.Bachelor’s degree required.Education and/or experience in Christian education and ministries as it relates to children birth through 5th grade. Shares the vision, philosophy of ministry, and commitments of FPC.Have current CPR and First Aid Training or be willing to obtain it and keep it up to date. Background check will be required.Work requires ability to lift or carry children, supplies, and equipment up to 30 pounds, and may involve long periods of standing, with recurring bending, crouching, stooping, etc. Responsibilities:GeneralBe in relationship with children, and their families. Seek out and meet with children and their families, sharing their joys, concerns, and challenging their spiritual growth. Minister to their needs and make appropriate care referrals when necessary. Plan and develop the children’s ministry and education programs curriculum, including but not limited to Sunday children’s church, Sunday School and/or mid-week programs, by working closely with Children’s ministry team.Supervise Children’s Interns and participate as an Intern Committee memberRecruit and train and coordinate with lay ministry individuals to serve in assigned ministries and education programs. Oversee nursery, making sure that it is properly staffed and organized.Assist and collaborate with other church ministries to encourage multi-generational fellowship and coordination of building use. Meet regularly with supervising Pastor, communicate with Session, and attend staff meetings.Publicize program activities through all available methods. Recommend and oversee annual budget. Maintain attendance, database and contact information and prepare monthly activity reports. Participate in approved professional training and continuing education.Participate with other Christian ministry professionals in the community as opportunities arise that fit within the church’s purpose and ministry vision. Relationships:Relates to the Senior Pastor as Head of Staff Maintains a close supportive relationship with children’s ministry lay leaders, the Sonshine Patch, the church staff, and church members. Relates to persons and groups in the community regarding children concerns.
